We proudly offer a total child preschool curriculum designed to encourage independence, curiosity and socialization skills, by doing and being according to the maturation and personal makeup unique to each child. We are a developmental preschool, which means understanding that growth is orderly, structured and predictable.
Developmental age is determined by measuring a child’s motor skills and his social and emotional behavior. Rote counting has nothing to do with math readiness and reciting the alphabet has nothing to do with reading readiness. To determine readiness, we need to evaluate a

child’s visual perception and memory, his auditory perception, his fine and gross motor skills, social skills, emotional maturity and language.
When a child is ready for school, he will be able to cope without undue stress and strain and he will be able to do his best. Readiness is only strengthened by time. At least one third of the children in any given class would benefit by more time to grow. Avoid putting your child at a disadvantage. Make sure your child is developmentally old enough before putting him in a totally academic situation.
Our Exploragym Preschool Program is a wonderful place to grow. Give your child the gift of time.
Exploragym Preschool offers the key ingredients to your child’s growth and development. Our three year old classes include basic concepts of math and reading. This exposure is done through hands on activities and play. The question is, are we rushing children, pushing them too hard, asking them to do too much too soon? With all the emphasis on academics and back to basics, are we forgetting that even when children want to learn and do well in school work, they can only do what their eyes and bodies will enable them to do?
.
Developmentally
- Most children’s eyes are not mature enough to read until almost seven.
- Boys are six months to a year behind girls in almost every area of development. Most children’s eyes are not mature enough to read until almost seven.
- The development of fine and gross motor skills are essential to learning to read. the older a child is when he starts formal schooling, the greater his chance for success.
- Our four year class has a well developed phonics program that will prepare your child for your school district’s current requirements.
- We include math concepts in our everyday activities.
- Not all children are ready for kindergarten when they reach their fifth birthday.
- The child’s readiness (not his parent’s or teacher’s), will determine when and what he learns. School is more than reading readiness: school readiness can only be determined by evaluating a child’s total developmental age.
Our Three Year Class:
Exploragym’s goals for the three year class include fostering independence, socialization, following directions, and listening to others.
These skills are all encouraged through play as classroom activities unfold each day. In the three’s class, children learn to recognize their names, letters in the alphabet, and numbers 1-10, and practice counting by rote 0 -10.
Our beautiful wooden puzzles, daily easel painting, block play, and circle time games are all planned learning experiences. Minigym is a wonderful place to grow
Our Four Year Class:
Exploragym has a very enriching year planned for the last year before kindergarten. Children still engage in learning through play in our challenging gymroom and classroom. And we also have special emphasis on daily pre-reading and math conceptual activities. We use a phonics program, plus other hands on activities like cooking, and science, and math games to enthuse the children and keep up progress through the year. There is a time for “seat work” early in the morning, and also a skill building group time as a portion of each day. Between all these important necessities, four year olds thrive on socialization. This is the year when they make special friends, and engage in imaginative play. Creativity comes from having unstructured time, and we always allow time for children to make their own choices during the day.
Exploragym offers a special experience for your child.
